The plan is to animate this painting that I had done a couple of years ago. In the Whitney Bienale I had seen a piece where Las Menians from Velasquez was re-worked into a video piece, so I thought it would be interesting to do the same with 3D. A good painting is usually defined by having captured some sort of movement or essence. But would giving it movement actually change the piece and how. Is painting in an of itself a powerful medium, or is it the medium that existed in the past? Now that we ave the tools to make more complex pieces, does painting move out of the picture? These are some of the questions I wanted to explore while making this animation.
